Good evening readers, even if there are only a small handful of you out there. I keep putting off this post, but it was unavoidable and had to be done at some point. In this post, I’m going to discuss things concerning the website, take suggestions and hopefully steer us onto the correct track should we be going wrong anywhere.
First of all, Ebola Cola was a personal blog but in just one night we seemed to have expanded and now have several editors and a larger fanbase number of readers. Which is excellent news, it means we’ve had a good start. Considering our first post began on May 27th and it is now 28th June, having almost thirty posts means that we have published a lot of content when you take into account the size of the website.
I feel that I also need to address some things. We need to keep Ebola Cola breathing, unfortunately this means employing ad schemes. We don’t force donations and we don’t force ad clicking but I think it is important that Ebola Cola readers understand that they have to be there, as ugly as they may be and as unwanted as they are.
Secondly, Ebola Cola has done no advertising at all. Zilch, no-one knows about us except the readers who found themselves here by search engine, those of you who know the editors in real life and administrators who own the content we often link to. So, currently we are taking suggestions as to how we can advertise the website and ways of promoting the articles here. I have yet to discuss these methods with the other editors but I’m hoping that by asking for suggestions from everyone we’ll have some sort of system in place very soon.
Thirdly, there has been a change in the comment system. We now run some anti-spam plug-ins and the comment system is no longer under moderation, which means comments will automatically show up on the website after being posted without being looked over by an administrator. We will however, remove offending comments should any be posted.
Finally, those of you who wish to use an avatar on Ebola Cola, you must register for an account at Gravatar. Gravatar is a popular system which allows readers and authors to have a globally recognised avatar and it’s easy to set up.
I hope I’ve not missed anything and have touched on everything that needed addressing. You can now enjoy some statistics.
These statistics are from the month of June only.
Here’s a nice pie chart which shows our traffic by country.
Oh no, they’re onto us!
The following contains big numbers.
