We Google For Your Phone Number

Posted by: Shaun In: Technology

Panorama is a series of documentaries here in the United Kingdom, this week’s episode was about keeping kids safe online. They stooped to the level of ‘To catch a predator’ which was aired by America’s NBC and posing as a young girl, Panorama were able to net an Internet paedophile.

What Panorama don’t know is that most kids are utterly retarded when it comes to social networking, if they did know this, they would most likely just give up completely. As much as they will try to reinforce the safety tips conjured up by the likes of Bebo and Myspace, many kids are going to choose to ignore this anyway. The kids who care about their safety will already have privacy settings enabled and will not have their phone numbers and other personal information posted on their profiles.

Using Google Mining, we were able to obtain various phone numbers from social networking sites. You can see for yourself just how easy it is for Internet users to breach your privacy and safety. The links below take you to the appropriate search results.

Searching for phone numbers on Bebo.com
Searching for mobile phone numbers on Bebo.com
Searching for phone numbers on Myspace.com
Mobile Numbers on Mypsace.com
MSN addresses on Bebo.com

MSN addresses of Harry Potter fans on Bebo.com

Also, if you’re pretty savvy. You can pull up some sensitive information from these profiles, such as passwords.

You can tweak these queries to what you want and the results are fascinating.

Google is such a great mining tool for so many great tidbits of information…seriously, it’s the investigators–and the conman wet dream.
