Microsoft Talks About Windows 7, Briefly

Posted by: Shaun In: Technology

Cnet recently interviewed Steven Sinofsky (Senior Vice President, Windows and Windows Live Engineering), in order to dig up some information on Microsoft’s future operating system, Windows 7.

The interview itself is rather long and tedious and Sinofsky gives away no major hints as to what we’ll see in Windows 7. The interview tends to wrap around Sinofsky’s philosophy when it comes to developing new products. At the same time, he tries to get across the whole idea that Microsoft are not just keeping everything closed away but are divulging in what they can.

When asked about Windows 7 in relation to Windows Vista, Sinofsky claims that drivers and software will operate exactly like Windows Vista. I was always let down by the lack of driver and software support when it came to Windows Vista, so is moulding Windows 7 around these aspects of Vista really a good idea?

The Cnet staff member also asked about the new kernel design but Sinofsky couldn’t go into any details.

I am disappointed with the little amount of information we have to go on when it comes to Windows 7, no Microsoft members have given out a lot of information and have only possibly hinted on certain features that will be included. At the moment, we can only speculate and maybe some members have lost trust in Microsoft after the floppy release of Windows Vista. Maybe they’re planning something big and can’t divulge, here’s hoping.
