Four days ago, Weezer unveiled their music video for ‘Pork and Beans’. Shockingly, they have decided to base their video around Internet phenomena and popular online memes. Gary Broslma, famously known as the ‘Numa Numa guy’ makes an appearance alongside many other Internet superstars. They even managed to slot in an ‘All your base’ reference.

The video was uploaded to Youtube (the spawning ground of a majority of memes appearing in the video) and is obviously taking off hugely, staying within the featured videos list for several days and racking up over three million views and twenty-one thousand comments.

This is a perfect example of Weezer getting it right, they know their audience and they know what makes the online community tick. Although I’m not sure what the offline/unaware community will make of this, maybe they will put it down to Weezer being wacky?
